MLK Day of Service is on January 16th, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, and it’s coming up soon! The day of service was started by former U.S. Senator Harris Wofford along with our very own Congressman John Lewis, who together created the King Holiday and Service Act in hopes to turn January 16th into a national day of action and service in honor of Dr. King. Every year, people look for ways to get involved in their communities and the Resources for Residents and Communities would love to extend an invitation to you and your family to join us in our day of service. From 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, in the spirit of community development and neighborly fellowship, we are gathering at the Lang-Carson Community Center along with Hands On Atlanta, First Data, Friends of Lang-Carson Park, Reynoldstown Civic Improvement League, Points of Light, ServiceWorks, Trees Atlanta, Giving Point and Center for Sustainable Communities. We will be fixing up the playground at the community center, cleaning up around the neighborhood, and planting trees and shrubs around our affordable rental property. We would love for everyone to come out, meet people in the community, and give your time and efforts to transform our Atlanta neighborhood in honor of Dr. King! Click here to register, be sure to share it with your friends!
